Working and
collaborating with clients and colleagues across the country is beneficial to
expanding knowledge, gaining a wide range of experience, and working with the
best. Whether it is learning about a digital program with Belmont Digital Media
or working on a client’s solar project in rural Virginia, there is a lot to
learn from those outside your local area. Zoom Video Communications may connect
us, but there are a couple things you can do to better serve your clients
across multiple time zones.
Be
considerate when scheduling.
It is
obvious when working with individuals across the country you will have to
coordinate meetings across potentially one, two or even three times zones. It
can be tricky to balance everyone’s schedules to isolate a time that works with
all parties involved. When coordinating with other Core Strategic Group (CSG)
companies or within FSB Public Affairs (FSBPA), we use Microsoft Outlooks
schedule assistant feature that allows us to easily identify a time where
everyone is free. This feature has made it easier for us to arrange a time with
clients, CSG sister companies, and adapt our schedules quickly. Additionally,
be considerate of the time zone when scheduling meetings with clients. A late
afternoon meeting on pacific standard time would be too late for someone on
eastern standard time. Think ahead, quite literally.
Be
mindful of the time difference.
Due to the
time difference, you should always keep in mind deadlines and the time when you
send documents or emails. If a client or colleague on the east coast requests a
document by the end of the day, utilize your time management skills to complete
the task. Moreover, check with the client so you have a mutual understanding of
when the document is needed. End of the day can be defined differently
depending on your time zone. Always be mindful of the of location of your
client or colleague, especially when they are two to three hours ahead.
Location
does not matter.
At FSBPA, we
pride ourselves on curating talent and we work effectively and collaboratively
so location does not matter. With offices in California, Texas, Missouri, and
Washington, D.C. we know how to adapt to different schedules and have a wide
range of talent across our company and our sister companies to help meet the
needs of a client in any location. CSG is constantly adding new individuals who
are top of their field to better serve our clients on any of their needs, no
matter where they live and work.
